    R.I.P Ivor Cuttler
Sad news this week readers, I recently heard that sometime earlier last month the legendry Glaswegian poet, musician, comedian, eccentric Ivor Cuttler past away. He will be sadly missed.

    Back to XP!!
There I was frantically trying to get around the activation system in windows XP when I had a legal licence copy all along. Because mine has “for distribution with a new dell” or something similar stamped on the disc I assumed that it wouldn’t work with my machine, but thankfully it does.

Say what you like about old Microsoft windows, it has it's ups and downs but at least when you've installed it (which in its self only takes about half an hour and is relatively idiot proof) it's set up ready to go and performs the majority of the necessary configuring its self which is a blessing with respect to some of the more exotic replacements I've considered in the past.

More 4 (the slightly laughable new channel 4 venture) are currently running a series on the apparent unofficial government tolerance (well that’s how it seems to me) over the far right wing in modern Russia. Genuinely interesting (not to mention horrifying) stuff, it's called "the state of Russia" and it looks at how Russia as a nation has been going from bad to worse since the collapse of the soviet union and the demise of communism. Well worth a watch.

    ...Damn and Blast!!
...Back to using windows (bloody) 98SE at home again this week readers, I suppose that's what you get for trying to get around the activation system in XP. Never the less I can't bothered to hunt round on Kazza or Limewire for a hack and my interest in debian has all but passed (I am not reading a university grade thesis just to set up a simple machine for internet and general mucking around).

I’ve also had a bit of exciting news in the form of possible Jesus and Mary Chain remasters on DVD-A!! The legendry Scottish indie rockers celebrated the 20th anniversary of their highly influential debut LP psychocandy last year but sadly the press couldn’t seem to careless (they were probably all more interested in Pete Doherty or the Artic Monkeys) so any chances of a commemorative remaster from Warner seemed bleak (I’ve considered buying it again on vinyl as the cd is a bit flat) but hopefully these reissues should do the record justice.

    ...Second Post
Another rather uneventful week. Former Pixies frontman Frank Black (real name Charles Thompson) has just announced the release of his new double album Fastman/Raiderman and I am (once again) seriously considering taking the plunge and buying and fender jaguar (it’ll never happen).

    First Post
Not mach of any interest to say this week, I heard the Sex Pistols are refussing to be inducted into Rock 'n' Roll hall of fame and I recently placed an order for a copy of Fritz Lang's classic Sci-Fi masterpiece Metropolis on DVD, should be good (haven’t seen it in years).
